Services

Carolina Haven provides up-to-date information of a nursing care nature and can answer questions about the proper care of a physical need.  This could be:

• Care of a wound
• Meal modifications for someone with an eating difficulty
• Infant/child care
• Personal cleanliness
• Use of temporary mobility aids

If in-home nursing services are needed, the Christian Science Nurse Coordinator maintains a list of Christian Science caregivers who either live in the Carolinas or are willing to travel to the Carolinas to care for a patient.  The names and telephone numbers of the caregivers are given to patients or their families. Since Carolina Haven does not arrange for a Christian Science nurse to come to an individual's home, it is up to the family or individual to call, ask questions and hire the caregiver.

• Insurance for Christian Scientists
• Facilities for Christian Science nursing care
• Air and ground travel arrangements to Christian Science facilities
• Residential homes for Christian Scientists
• Sources of financial aid for nursing services
• Sources of financial aid for nursing instruction
• Wills and powers-of attorney

We encourage interested Christian Scientists to become caregivers and Christian Science nurses. Carolina Haven offers the following programs:

• How to deal with Social Services
• Medicare and Medicaid
• Helping Hands Workshops (available on request for church members to learn practical ways to help fellow church members)
• Mentoring Program (the Christian Science Nurse Coordinator is available to mentor those seeking additional Christian Science nursing skills to become Journal listed nurses)
• Branch Churches of Christ, Scientist can also arrange for a Carolina Haven Board Member or the Christian Science Nurse Coordinator to speak by calling 1-800-538-7296. Care committees are always welcome to call to ask practical or ethical questions about caring for members or to ask for a visit by the Christian Science Nurse Coordinator.

These services are provided by the Carolina Haven Foundation to show that Christian Scientists can care for their own within the Christian Science community.
